One of the first things I learned when I got into wine was: I’d been opening bottles of sparkling wine ALL WRONG. Sure – I got the cork out just fine, popping it off the top with a loud flourish. That POP is so festive-sounding! It looks so cool!

Yep. It was also (apparently) a total amateur move.

Opening fizz like that only accomplishes two things: you lose wine and you lose effervescence. And there is nothing fun about that. (Who wants flat fizz?) So here’s a quick video of how to do it “the better way.” It’s easy, and you’ll impress your friends with your wine know-how.
